The Greenville Poets have published 17 full-length books of poems, three volumes of translation, one book of literary criticism, two anthologies, and one novel. They have won grants from the Ohio Arts Council and many other prizes and fellowships. Miriam Vermilya's book, Heartwood, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
The group was formed in 1985 by Miriam Vermilya, Myrna Stone, and Belinda Rismiller. They were joined by Lianne Spidel and Cathryn Essinger in 1989, and later by Erika Tweed, David Lee Garrison, Deanna Pickard, and Susan Kelly-Garrison. Aimee Noel came to the group in 2016. The group meets informally once a month to critique manuscripts and to support each other in efforts to publish their work.
